Washington National Opera, under the leadership of General Director Plácido Domingo, is accepting applications for Stage Management Apprentices for our 2010-2011 Season. WNO offers an exciting opportunity to work with internationally known singers, directors, conductors and staff of all levels.
Our season consists of 5 productions – two in the Fall and three in the Spring, plus the occasional concert. Apprentices work as a member of the Stage Management team in setting up and running rehearsals and performances; responsibilities vary depending on the needs of the production. There may also be opportunities to perfect your craft while working with the Young Artist and Education programs.
This non-union, paid Apprenticeship is ideal for those with a background in Stage Management and an interest in pursuing a career in the field, but who have little or no professional experience. Students are welcome to apply and college credit may be available. Ability to read music is required. Familiarity with one or more foreign languages is a plus.
There is one position in Fall 2010 approximately Aug. 9 through Sept. 25. Positions for the 2011 Spring Season start around Jan. 24 and Apr. 4 and run to late May. Applicants may apply for either Fall or Spring or a combination of the two.
Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Interested parties should send a cover letter (include your preference for Fall, Spring or combined), resume and references to:
